The Arches are nestled beneath Shorefield Road, Westcliff, on Palmeira Avenue. These arched roof units (hence the name) were once fishermen’s storage units. But for over 100 years, since the early 1900s, they’ve been catering for passers-by, residents and holiday-makers.
In the early days, it started with serving afternoon tea and cakes, predominantly to day-trippers. Naturally, popularity grew and given its location and stunning view over the water, The Arches evolved into the fabulous restaurants they are today.
